I’m encountering Canon printer error code 2 140 21 on my canon printer which is connected to a mac. How should I resolve this issue?

  1. Make sure all your files are saved and then close all the running programs.
  2. Now, properly turn off the device.
  3. Next, restart your device.
  4. Go to “System Preferences”.
  5. Look for “Print & Fax” in the following window and then click on it.
  6. Click on the device in use in the “Printer & Scanner” list and click the “– “button to remove it.
  7. Now go to your main hard drive (Macintosh HD).
  8. Open “Library” and then navigate to “Image Capture”.
  9. Look for “Devices” in the following window and then remove all the files named after the printer.
  10. Go back to the Image capture window now.
  11. Select “TWAIN Data Sources” and then remove all the files named after the printer.
  12. Exit the library and refresh your system.
  13. Finally, use the installation disc that comes with the printer to reinstall it. You can also do so by downloading the drivers from Canon’s website if you don’t have the disc.

  • Open the control panel.

  • Fresh start the process.

Step 3- Reset or restart your printer.

  • Make sure you unplug the printer from the power source.

  • Now, reconnect the power source to the printer and switch it on.
  • Next, press the “Power” button and hold it for a few seconds.
  • Press the “Stop” button twice now.
  • Repeat this procedure once more.
  • Release the “Power” button gently when you repeat the process.
  • Lastly, press the “Stop” button four times.

Step 4- Reset the driver of the printer.

  •  Carefully clean the cartridge and then push the reset button for 5 seconds.

Step 5- Replace the cartridge.

  • Check the ink levels of the cartridge(s) in your printer and replace the ones with low ink levels.
  • Be very careful while removing and reinstalling the cartridge(s) in order to protect your device from any hardware damage.
